Beautiful tears
Binding the sorrow holy.
Smashing the tension of the waters;
Parting memory
Stitching self.

Memory Study

This painting found its completion during my time as the Artist in Residence at Grace Episcopal Church, Nampa, Idaho.  During the life of this painting, I was in deep self-reflection and experiencing truly taking responsibility for my own life.

Diving into the deep end is never easy.  Clearing away the fortress we build in front of us in order to open an honest path is simply terrifying.  More unknowns than I ever would have imagined.

Here I am, sitting, whirling about in the flailing motions of drowning.  Yet I am still.  What does that mean?  What does that mean for the interior of me?  Flailing and Stillness.  Agony and Vitality.  Fear and Motion.  Yes, indeed, motion.

Paint much love, always,
