Solace Seeker

By

She cut a hole in the fence and she ran
She left her troublesome prison behind
She didn’t wanna fuel the fire
She didn’t wanna lose her desire
.”
Song “She” by Alice Phoebe Lou

She is a solace seeker. Like her, I am a solace seeker. I put Alice Phoebe Lou’s song on repeat often. I love this song. It lifts me up. There is grief in the song just like life. There is also freedom, just like life.

Seeking solace helps to find sustenance to nourish our mind, body, and soul. In turn nourishment grounds us. Helps us put our toes in the dirt; to feel the grass between our fingers.

One of my unknowns is this blood clot around my port (central line). I am on a blood thinner. It will take 3 or so months for it to dissolve. They say that even if a little bit breaks off and goes else where that the blood thinner will help not make it a big deal. The safest thing will be to take this port out. At some point I can get a new port. Honestly it scares me. As the doctor in the hospital said. “blood clots can reek havoc.” I said yes, that what you always hear. But they don’t expect this to be a problem. I repeat it, because I have a hard time trusting.

When I look at this painting I exhale. I close my eyes and feel my breath. I look at her looking at me. finding solace in the seeker.

She looks outward with her calm demeanor. Quiet blue is her color. Like the deep waters of the ocean, life holds mystery. She lives with the unknown. It is a part of her, but she does not weep. She breathes.

I hope you enjoy her, and I hope she helps you recognize your breath and allow the moment to help calm any anxiety or unknowns you might have.

paint much love, always,
