One of the tools I use to paint is my head pointer in which I attach my brushes and pens and pencils. It then attaches to my head and I am free to paint away.
It is not the most comfortable tool, but I like it anyway. As a person who suffers with severe migraines and facial pain, I am not always able to wear it.
Despite this fact it is in my arsenal and I love it. One reason is its freedom. I love my mouthstick, but as someone who has weak and horrible teeth, my mouthstick can do damage if I am not careful.
the headpointer is just that. It was not originally made to attach brushes. It has a soft rubbery end that is meant for typing, among other things in adapting to life and working or operating a computer or phone. I saw it as an opportunity for painitng.
Here is a YouTube short that shows me working with my headpointer.
No tool is ever perfect. No problem. I use whatever is best in the moment. I use whatever part of my body is able in the moment. my muscles fatigue quickly so by having a variety of tools I am able to create more than if I was using just one tool.
Featured here is a detail of my painting Empowered. And she is all about just that, being empowered. She is flying, free with her head held high. Just because you have a past that is somehow seen as less than in some people’s eyes, doesn’t mean you actually are.
Just because you have limitations and need to adapt in life, doesn’t mean you are less than or unworthy. Learning to advocate for myself was one of the greatest gifts I could give myself.
I hope today, you feel, empowered too.
paint much love, always,
