Today for disability pride month I thought I would share another tool I use in order to paint. My mouth stick.
It is as it sounds, a stick I attach my brushes to and I hold it in my mouth and paint.
One of my mouth sticks has a white end piece in a y shape with a couple of rubbery sleeves to make it softer and this is what I hold between my teeth.
My second mouth stick I made myself at a time when my mouth muscles were much weaker and i had a hard time keeping the stick from just falling out of my mouth.
This one had a scuba mouthpiece attached using moldable glue. The scuba piece makes it so it doesn’t fall out of my mouth. A little added security.
This I had to practice a lot, and I am still ever practicing. and, have patience with myself as my mouth muscles just are not or were not the strongest. Over time, things have improved.
I love this tool. It is one of my favorites. The only draw back is having weaker teeth, I can break and chip teeth if I am not careful.
paint much love, always,
Connie
