She sways across the fields and stares at life intently. She lingers in her body, and forgets what she does not know. Life can feel out of control sometimes, and the unknown becomes enormous.

I try not to stay in those type of moments. I try not to knock myself down. Instead I try to be gentle on myself. Look for ways to come back into the present.

This week I was transported back to my ex. In having this puppy now, it brings back memories of how my ex stole my dog from me. Weird how that happens. One minute you are going along and then the next minute you feel as though you are inside a memory.

Tyler, my puppy, helped me. Why? because he relies on routine. I am not a routine person. But here I am in routine, and strangely I am calmer.

In this routine, I am meditating more actually. My favorite app is the Plum Village app. It has all kinds of meditations and dharma talks.

As the puppy is napping, I put on a guided meditation. Mostly I am listening to ones that bring an awareness of the body. It helps to ground me.

That is what is happening in the portrait today. Her name is Remedies. And her stare is the intent desire for presence, and as she stares aware, she finds actions, and in these actions she finds solutions.

This portrait has a mate. Her name is Darning; repairing. Between them we repair our body, mind, and soul. I breathe deeper. I slow down. I find myself taking a breathe for the purpose of relaxation. Next week I will share Darning, and allow her to speak.

paint much love, always,
